EXPEDITIONS Digital Media Lab
Grades: 9th – 12thSessions begin Tuesday, September 27, 2022 // Tuesdays, 4:00pm – 6:00pm
The DIGITAL MEDIA LAB is an arts-based, after school – youth development program that introduces high school youth to digital media through photography, video, and audio projects. Students will also explore the role of social media and its impact on broader social issues. High school students can join us on Wednesdays to learn how to transform and impact their community’s past, present & future with media. *Program doors open at 3:00pm for snack and homework help. -
VISUAL VOYAGES
Grades: 6th – 8thSessions begin Wednesday, September 28, 2022 // Wednesdays, 4:00pm – 6:00pm
VISUAL VOYAGES is an arts-based, after school – youth development program for middle school students interested in building intermediate art-making & communication skills. Students continue developing their ability to plan and create artworks with individual and small group projects. Students will learn about local and contemporary artists and create artworks that respond to community and youth-related themes. Students gain skills in: drawing, mixed media, illustration, and graphic arts. Program doors open at 3:00pm for snack and homework help.

CULTURAL JOURNEYS
Grades 1st – 5thSessions begin Wednesday, September 7, 2022 // Wednesdays & Thursdays, 4:00pm – 6:00pm
CULTURAL JOURNEYS is an arts-based, after school – youth development program designed to grow each student’s creativity through art-making and exploration. Students learn new skills and materials from drawing, printmaking, comic books, and more to create projects that reflect on their personal experiences and community. Register today and join us for an exciting after school program this Fall! Program doors open at 3:00pm for snack and homework help.

PROUD & EMPOWERED TEEN VOICE
Grades 6th – 12thSessions begin Friday, September 23, 2022 // Fridays, 4:00pm – 7:00pm
The goal of this program is to create a safe space for teens to ask questions, learn, lead, celebrate, and feel accepted no matter their identity. The group is for 6th grade through 12th grade. This group will be student-led. Join us every Friday for exciting discussion, activitiies, speakers and leadership opportunities. High school students can earn community service/service learning hours for their participation in specific program activities.

FRIDAY OPEN STUDIO
Grades 6th – 12thSessions begin Friday, September 30, 2022 // Fridays, 4:00pm – 7:00pm
FRIDAY OPEN STUDIO is a new option for middle & high school youth. Structured around an open studio concept, registered students can use the MRC studio space to study, create art, gaming or learn from our staff of Youth Advocates in small group discussions. MRC offers free WiFi for youth participants, homework help, and a supportive space to create and learn. High school students can earn community service/service learning hours for their participation in specific program activities.

Youth Action Programming
Mattie Rhodes Center Youth Action/Health and Wellness after school programs serves kids in Elementary and Middle School. Youth Action works directly with our youngest grades (Kindergarten – 8th) and our Health and Wellness program offerings serve grades 6th – 9th. We are offering programming throughout the Historic Northeast and westside communities. Programming will be offered during the weekend and on Saturdays starting September 10th and ending October 22nd. ages: Ages 5yrs – 14yr
