Visionaries Program
Visionaries is a community living support program. Growing up in today’s world, especially navigating the educational system and learning important life-skills, can be difficult for anyone; persons with development disabilities can face many additional challenges.
MRC’s Visionaries program provides services/supports designed to enable young adults with a developmental disability to participate in meaningful daily activities, become active members of their communities, and advocate for themselves and other causes they believe in.
Visionaries core activities––vocational skills development, organized collaborative efforts, collective socialization, building peer-to-peer relationships, and individualized support services––are carefully designed to help participants achieve their goals, moving from isolation and dependency to community and autonomy. Participants have access to the full range of programs at MRC through which they can actively work toward community integration and autonomy.
The Visionaries program is unique in providing culturally competent services to Spanish-speaking young adults with developmental disabilities. No other organization provides this specialized type of service in the Greater Kansas City area.
