Chicano Forever Exhibit

Join us for our Chicano Forever Exhibit! We have a number of different events throughout May and June to celebrate this moving exhibit and hope to see you at MRC!

PACHANGA – Friday, June 6th, 6pm – 10pm
Come join us for our annual Culture and Art Festival, Pachanga! Explore our Cultural Center and you’ll find various works of art, art activities for kids, vendors, food trucks, music by DJ Mztekcah, and lowriders from KC Estilo.

Paint, Drink Y Chisme – Thursday, May 15th, 6pm – 8pm
Come kick it with us at Chicano Forever: Paint, Drink y Chisme! A night to celebrate what being Chicano means – from lowriders and Dickies to paleteros, bandas, and everything in between. We’re keeping the cultura alive with art, drinks, and puro cotorreo.

Ceramic Workshop – Thursday, May 21st, 6pm – 8pm 
Led by MRC staff Paola Silva and Christina Loya – we will discuss the history and symbolism behind Tree of Life pieces and learn more about the Hand-in-Hand Collection, while making our own ceramic miniature trees of life.

Poetry con Cafe – Open Mic – Thursday, May 29th, 7pm – 9pm
Join us for a cozy, bilingual poetry open mic hosted by the Bicultural Poetry Program and Poetic Underground. Enjoy free cafecito con pan dulce (fresh coffe and sweet bread) and listen or share original poems in English, Spanish or both.

Chicano Conversations – Saturday,  June 7th, 10am – 2pm
Experience a group conversation led by featured artists from the Chicano Forever Exhibit – Raymond Olais, Liz Gonzalez, Adolfo Martinez, Baldemar Rivas, Emiliano Zapata, and RosaLinda Aviles. We will serve lunch and participate in a workshop led by Baldemar.
