MRC’s Community Economic Development department works to increase commercial and residential development in the neighborhoods we serve, serves as a developer and facilitator of resources for the broader community, is the tie that binds neighborhoods and businesses together, and the force that spearheads important projects related to the community.  In particular, MRC serves the six neighborhoods that make up the Historic Northeast: Independence Plaza, Indian Mound, Lykins, Pendleton Heights, Scarritt Renaissance, and Sheffield.

MRC’s community development programming is also a resource for improving public safety in the area and an advocate for more transportation, walkability and bike ability all to improve the livability of the Northeast.

MRC’s workforce development program provides workforce readiness training and individual support that is designed to improve workforce opportunities by removing barriers to employment.

Our digital literacy classes take a unique approach of combining digital literacy with English as a Second Language to support our participants in developing the skills needed to successfully join the workforce, communicate with their children’s school, access community-based services, and manage their finances. The courses cover basic digital skills like using email, writing a resume in Microsoft Word, and applying to jobs online, all while integrating English language acquisition.
